Lab 8
This week’s lab was a very elaborate and involved creation of a scenario. I chose the deliverable number one which involved having the learner recreate helping a new customer service rep go through their first call and helping to solve a customer’s technical issues. There were several challenges to create a final module, but it helped that we were given a model and the steps via a web page blog post on how the writer originally created the module. I was able to get all my assets and decided on several poses for a customer representative and a customer. Unlike the model we had I also chose to have a person connected to the narrator. Putting the different scenarios was time consuming and required carefully labeling and reproducing images.
The one area that proved to be technically challenging was to create a slide that would only advanced when the user chose three out of five correct choices. I decided to use a question slide since I wasn’t so familiar with the advanced programming needed to recreate the original slide. The problem was that there seems to be an issue with the version of Captivate that I upgraded to and so I ended up letting the user go through to the end slide but made sure that the answer was read and then forced the user to mouseover and click on the next button. Overall I learned a lot with this activity.
