Audio Blog 4.1
For this assignment I chose to use Garageband which allows the user to quickly create audio files and podcasts. I recorded my voice and added several sound effects to enhance the story. I've been using Garageband on and off over the years to allow my students to create podcasts. The interface has continued to improve and features such as creating .mp3s are much easier then they used to be.
Script for the story
Yesterday, my family and I went to a dinner event for my daughter’s preschool to help raise money for supplies and general expenses. The school is a CO-OP, and with the cutbacks in funding from the school district that sponsors the school, fund raisers have become an indispensable way to keeping the school going. The event was very well attended with not only parents and their children attending but also the Grandparents. The atmosphere was loud as could be expected for a large group with many young and pre-school age children. One way that the children were kept occupied was that all the tables had white butcher paper taped to them with a container of markers in the center. Many of the children were kept busy creating drawings for their parents and I also noticed several groups of children also playing games like tic-tac-toe. A family that ran a food truck business served the food. The food itself was a southern, Cajun influenced meal with pork pulled sandwiches, rice, beans, a mixed green salad, and deep fried chicken tenders. Several of the foods had a mild type of spice, in consideration of the children, which went down well with the lemonade that was included for drinks. After the meal there was a raffle for several items, but we didn’t participate. As often happens when trying to take young children to social events they were ready to go home first and there’s nothing worse then trying to do something at a social event with cranky and tired children that need to be taken home.
