ePortfolio Reflection
As the semester draws to a close this page is devoted to reflecting on the ePortfolio as it currently is structured.
I received valuable feedback on my ePortfolio from my peers. Several important areas to consider is to change the colors uses for the text so that they are more compliant with guidelines. There are also some areas to make sure the the images have alternative text and are readable by the visually impaired. Other suggestions included cleaning up the headers for classes that don't have content.
Overall the site needs major revamping as I'm not expecting to share some of the content that was required this semester as part of the course. After viewing several other student ePortfolios, I feel that my site's content is not useable as part of a professional ePortfolio. Much of the content was done with the limited amount of time available and compared to the quality by other students it's not acceptable. For example viewing other students' videos which includes the use of multiple cameras, green-screen, and professional editing make my iPhone based example look very poor. I think that part of the issue is that as a teacher I've grown used to completing the preparation and presentation of content so that it is usable but not aesthetic or professional looking. This approach of focussing on expediency because of time constraints will not be adequate. I hope to begin to apply more professionalism to my content with the second semester projects. My disappointment and need to improve in the professionalism of the content will be part of my goals for the second semester.
